Acute Abdomen Ultrasound Examination Phantom
FAST/ER FAN Ultrasound phantom has been developed to provide simulated training in FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma), an ultrasound examination directed at identifying the presence of free intraperitoneal or pericardial fluid in trauma patients. Use for training Sonographers and emergency medical staff in detecting the possible causes of shock. Traumas such as mass hemothorax, intraperitoneal hemorrhage, or cardiac tamponade and effusion are demonstrated.
Features- FAST procedures: Internal hemorrhage at perihepatic, perisplenic, pelvis and pericardium area.
- Sonography for acute patients: Internal hemorrhage at pericardial, bilateral chambers as well as intra-abdominal hemorrhage around the liver, the spleen and the urinary bladder.
- Pathologies Including cholecystitis, an aortic aneurysm, a lesion on the colon.
- Any ultrasound device with a convex probe may be used with the phantom
- Use for Training and Demonstration of FAST technique
- Near real-size organs, structures, and abnormal lesions
- Durable long-life Phantom materials with proper care and handling
Abdominal ultrasound has been used to evaluate trauma patients in Europe since the 1970’s. It is now included as part of the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course. The FAST exam is a highly sensitive and specific screening test for identifying patients with hemoperitoneum and/or hemopericardium in need of immediate surgery. It can be used in patients with blunt or penetrating trauma. Ultrasound can be performed on both stable and unstable patients at the bedside without exposure to radiation or contrast, and can be repeated as often as necessary.
